The Grizzlies managed just three baserunners, two of which came via Minicozzi’s single and walk.

Heston had another fine start.  With 1 ER or less in four of his last five starts, he has improved his ERA to 3.42.  He was outpitched, though, by the Mariners‘ Walker, who had a career-high 13 K as he struck out more than half his batters.

Richmond: SS Blake Miller: 2 for 4, 2B, BB

San Jose: LF Tyler Horan: 1 for 4, HR, SO

San Jose: SP Pat Young: 4.0 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 3 K

Augusta: SP Steven Messner: 5.0+ IP, 8 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 3 K

With two singles each, Callaway and Ortiz combined for half of the GreenJackets’ eight hits.  Callaway has hit .367 in nine games since his promotion.

Messner had allowed just 2 ER in his last two starts but today returned to the form of his previous four starts with 4+ ER.

Slater and Davis each reached base three times.  Davis got his first NWL hit after going hitless in his first three games.

For the second time in three starts, Miller allowed just 1 R in 8.0 IP.  He has a 5-1 W-L record with a 3.79 ERA after eleven starts.

R: Giants lost to White Sox 5-4

Scottsdale: C John Riley: 1 for 3, BB

Scottsdale: SP Matthew Gage: 4.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 6 K–2 WP
